As an educator, I strive to terraform an environment that yields critical and reflective thinking skills, questioning of assumptions, and a love for knowledge which is at the heart of education. I am committed to offering students the tools to form their values, critique information and situations, and efficiently solve life problems. Through the utilization of case studies, life examples, and Socratic questions, I aid students in tapping into their place in society. Through transformational concepts, I prioritize my relationship with each student, model the behaviors I want to see in the learning space, sharpen each person’s intellectual abilities, and be a gentle reminder of how powerful they are through genuine care and understanding of other perspectives.
I am setting the atmosphere for learning to be a continuous lifelong process to glean new strategies, ideas, and philosophies. I owe it to your organization to bring consistency, diligence, and warmth to my job in the hope that I can ultimately inspire and encourage such traits in your organization’s leaders. Attendees are encouraged to walk into the workshop or seminar positively toward learning. The best sessions occur when participants know they are expected to do their best daily. Education is not a one-size-fits-all discipline, and my approach must be tailored to the specific learning needs of each person in attendance. To accomplish this, I present information most compellingly - often through interactive teaching aids and experiential learning opportunities.
Where we are is where we are supposed to be, but there are three fundamental questions we must ask ourselves; what am I supposed to learn here? What am I learning here, and what did I learn here? This represents the three phases of being; going into a moment, being in the moment, and leaving a moment of life. There is a lesson to be learned at every turn, and if we do not learn the lesson designed for us, we are doomed to repeat it. The continual repeating of a lesson is the pain loop. The pain loop is where a person is stuck in pain and reflection. To escape the pain loop, we must multiply the pain and reflection by positive action
(pain + reflection) * action+ = success.
I am morally obligated to my community to enter the classroom with the highest standards for each soul I am entrusted with. I design a curriculum incorporating different learning styles and ensuring that content is relevant to students' lives. Educators must use the right tools at the right moment to set the right environment for their students to be genuinely fruitful. In a classroom, we come to share, care, engage, connect, and challenge each other to grow. “Bloom where you are planted” is a saying that focuses the responsibility for growth back on the person who should be mentored, coached, and led. I employ strategies to enable community within the classroom structure to allow the flourishing of thought.
(1) The teacher's purpose is to act as a guide.
(2) Students must have access to hands-on activities.
(3) Students should have choices and let their curiosity direct their learning.
(4) Students need the opportunity to practice skills in a safe environment.
